Radi-oh no! | The Oberon Project

Radi-oh no!

Due to circumstances beyond our control we are unable to bring you Oberadio at the moment.

As many of you will be aware, there was no show last week and those of us who tried to listen were met with total silence for the full two hours. Not really the kind of show we'd been hoping to bring you and apologies to those of you who, like us, made the effort to tune in only to be disappointed.

So this week we tune in again to find that Oberadio has been hi-jacked and that our trusted Oberjockey has stolen our slot for his own fiendish ends! No reasons, no explanations, just a stoney refusal to respond to communication. Well, that's what you get when you send a boy to do a man's job!

Meltdown | The Oberon Project

Meltdown at Oberon Central!

Due to a catastrophic system failure at Oberon Central, we are unable to bring you some of the site updates that were planned for this week.

The required formatting of the Oberon brain and subsequent re-installation of operating system, drivers and software is causing no end of mayhem. However, armed with a scientific calculator and a swiss army knife, our illustrious team of web-monkeys are doing their best to keep the site and forum working the way they imagine they probably should be!

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Update:

Most of the issues have been fixed now and the monkeys are back working at almost full capacity. So watch this space for updates coming soon!

Castlefields | The Oberon Project

Castlefields Festival A Big Success

We at The Oberon Project and Oberon Promotions are proud to have brought you the largest event to benefit Oxjam in the UK to date. Thousands of performers across hundreds of venues have helped to achieve donations from busk-a-thons to gigs in Oxfam shops. Now the climax is reached here within the battlements of Castle Field, Southsea.

All the hard work paid off when the sun came out and the guests began to arrive. People of all ages and backgrounds coming together in the sunshine to enjoy the live music and festival atmosphere. In addition to the main stage there were acoustic, dance and reggae tents along with a South Downs College tent, featuring students from the college.

We've put a few photos up in the gallery and we'll get some more up over the next few days. If you'd like to share your own festival photos, you can post them here or email them here. We'd love to see them!

We would like to thank our friends at Portsmouth City Council, Sarah Cheverton, South Downs College, all the performers, Karl March at Strange Chameleon and James Cartwright at the Peace Cafe. Well done everybody!

Thanks to everyone who attended the Castlefields festival. The Oberon Project now invite you to join our facebook group to show that you want more of the same!

Events | The Oberon Project

Castlefields Festival

Portsmouth-based event co-ordinators, The Oberon Project and Oberon Promotions, are organising Oxjam 2008, as part of the nationwide Oxjam music festival, following last year’s successful Oxjam Portsmouth launch in Victoria Park.

This year’s event will take place on April 26th on Castle Fields, Southsea, and the organisers are asking for local support in making this year’s event even bigger and better than the last.

“We would like this to be so much more than a music festival,” says Paul Lovegrove, founder member and Director of the Oberon Project, “We’d like Oxjam to be a real celebration of what this city has to offer. We’d like the city’s artists, and particularly Portsmouth’s young people to know that there are opportunities in Portsmouth for them to shine.” more...
